Personally, I've been Beavis and Butthead level stupid at times, myself, and I really enjoyed the show. For anyone who has ever done or wanted to do anything retarded (haven't we all been there?), Beavis and Butthead is for you. The characters around Beavis and Butthead were funnier than Beavis and Butthead themselves, such as Anderson and Buzzcut. In that way, it provided (GASP!) a service. Beavis and Butthead was a necessary show for tackling topics, no matter how stupid, that are rarely touched upon in society. Still, the show does not attempt to hide that these activities are sick and is a much more honest show in that respect than many others. The fire comments, the animal abuse, etc, is the part of the show that is unfortunate. In that way, Beavis and Butthead was a much more psychological show than a lot of the other garbage that has floated around in TV history. The format and execution may have been childish but the concepts and ideas were fairly advanced. For one thing, it realized that sex and sexuality is at the base for many more human actions than is generally realized and accepted. The show was much smarter than was advertised. Van Driessen, who looks to have learned absolutely nothing, even after all these years, from the agonizing waves of casual torture these guys have inadvertently put him through.I liked Beavis and Butthead when I watched it in 1993-1994. Also keeping the old-school flame alive is hopelessly nurturing teacher Mr. Hey, at least they’ll never be caught dead rockin’ a Winger tee. As the boys’ unchanging attire suggests (do they ever wash those T-shirts?), AC/DC and Metallica remain evergreen signifiers of peak performance in their murky, unsupervised little minds. How will our skinny heroes navigate a world that’s changed a bit since they first dorked around their small-town Texas haunts? We don’t know, but time has thankfully stood still at least in the wardrobe department. Now going by the slightly-tweaked official name of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head, the revived series marks the first time Butt-Head and the Great Cornholio have seen action in regular, bite-sized episodes since 2011, when a Season 8 revival picked up their suspended adventures at MTV.
